Each
year over 1,300 high school juniors and seniors from
across the country
travel to our nation’s capitol to experience our national treasures, see
government in action and discuss the issues of the day with their Congressmen
and Senators. Among
those students are two of Swisher Electric Cooperatives finest students, winners
of the Cooperative’s annual Youth Tour speech contest.
They are chosen from among the many applicants received as the most deserving
to learn from this experience.
For some, the Washington Youth Tour is their first experience away from home.
For many, it is their first trip to Washington where they have the opportunity
to see our nation’s history and democratic ideals in action. For these
students, the trip is more than seeing monuments and going to museums, it is
about being part of something special. They have the opportunity to interact
with their peers, the best and brightest students that rural America has to
offer. It is these young Americans who will be the entrepreneurs, farmers and
backbone to our towns and communities in the coming years.
Don’t miss
out on the opportunity to be a part of an annual cooperative tradition and
to see first hand the workings of our government in Washington
