Your Electric Bill

Your Swisher Electric bill is reproduced below, cut into three sections. Following each section is a list of definitions for the things found in that section. Each section is numbered. The numbers correspond to the numbered tips.

  1. Swisher electric member service represenatives are available to assist you with any question you may have regarding your electric bill. Call 806.995.3567 or come by our offices at 401 SW 2nd in Tulia, Texas.
  2. Each month look here for an important announcement from Swisher Electric regarding:
    • your electric service,
    • Cooperative promotions or sales,
    • special notices, or
    • holiday schedules
  3. This lets you know when your bill is past due. Swisher Electric provides Automatic Bank Draft and Budget Billing to make paying your electric bill as convenient as possible.
  4. The amount due in full to maintain a current electric account is here.

  1. Multiple meters often appear on one billing statement. This number helps members to know which electric service is being billed, i.e., a house or well or pivot sprinkler.
  2. The meter number is also helpful for notifying your Cooperative of a service disruption in the event of an outage.
    • This number is also useful for members who have multiple electric services for determining which electric service accounts for a certain portion of your monthly statement.
  3. Indicates single or three phase service.
  4. Indicates a billing code, listed at the bottom of the bill
  5. When the billing cycle began and ended.
  6. Your meter's reading from the previous month.
  7. The multiplier or motor-horsepower used to calculate the billing amount.
  8. The number of kilowatt-hours used, as indicated by the electric service's meter
  9. Indicates charges based on service type, billing code, horsepower/demand charge, and the number of kilowatt-hours used.
  10. Total taxes applied to the electric service.
  11. Total bill for the electric service, including tax.

  1. Billing period (month and year).
  2. Your account number.
  3. Indicates the Power Cost Recovery Factor (PCRF) used for calculating energy costs.
    • The PCRF is a component of the energy charge and reflects the fluctuating cost of fuel such as natural gas required to operate an electric generation plant.
    • This cost is a "pass-through" cost from the wholesale power supplier to Swisher Electric Cooperative. The PCRF varies throughout the year.
