Job Title: Accounting Specialist or Accounting Coordinator

Position Overview:
Swisher Electric Cooperative is hiring an Accounting Specialist or Accounting Coordinator to support payroll, capital credits, assets, materials, fleet, and work order processes. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create queries and reports for internal and external use
- Conduct financial analysis and provide reporting and recommendations
- Process escheatment of unclaimed checks or allocate to Cooperative funds
- Manage capital credits and Board-approved General Retirements
- Administer payroll, tax filings, and year-end reporting
- Maintain work order system, including contributions and property records
- Track and reconcile assets, materials, and fleet vehicles monthly
- Submit fuel tax reports and manage registrations and insurance
- Assist with audits

Qualifications:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s in accounting or related field preferred
- 3+ years of accounting experience preferred; utility/cooperative experience a plus
- Proficient in Excel
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
